Inverse vs Inverse Special
The difference between INVERSE and INVERSE Special can be complicated to explain. We do have a detailed video on this topic on our YouTube Channel HERE.
Standard INVERSE (black/white icon) is simply flipping the colors of the background and the foreground. So, for instance, if you import an RTF with some text colored yellow and some black, and you import it into Telescript, as long as you are not applying defaults, you will see the same thing in your edit window. When you INVERSE the script to put it on a black background, your Yellow text will now be black with a Yellow box around it and the black text will now be white on a black background. This is exactly what INVERSE is supposed to do, but the Yellow boxed text is generally not what operators want, which is to put the Yellow text on a black background. To do this, you must use INVERSE SPECIAL.
INVERSE SPECIAL is a slightly more complicated process (software-wise) as it analyzes the colors to properly create the desired "inverse" when it comes to colored text. Inverse Special was implemented so that the user can generate the desired inverse required.
If you do NOT select specific text on the screen, INVERSE or INVERSE SPECIAL will simply replace the background with the foreground and invert the text color for the entire script. I you specifically select text, INVERSE will only flip the background and foreground on the text selected and leave the main background alone.
It does take getting used to, but in order for us to provide as many options to ALL users so they can get their desired result, we implemented these two very different inverse functions.
There may be instances where you may need to run INVERSE SPECIAL twice to get the desired color inverse.
